Greyhound Adoption of Greater Rochester, NY is dedicated to matching the right greyhound with the right family. We prefer to select a greyhound for a family based on a family profile that is sent to one of the tracks that supply greyhounds to us. The kennel workers at the track know their dogs and are able to select dogs that are child friendly (we adopt to homes with children 5 and older) and cat friendly (please read this for an explanation of cat/small animal friendly) for those families that consist of children over five and cats or other small animals. They can also pass along to us personality and energy level traits that help us to make a good match. We want both our adoptive families and our greyhounds to get off to the best possible start. Occasionally, we have dogs that are immediately available like the ones that appear on this page. Our adoption fee is $250 which includes: spay/neuter, dental cleaning, up to date shots, new martingale collar and matching lead and the "Retired Racing Greyhounds for Dummie", book. Hms Count- News from his foster family: Count is taking life off the track in stride. In the 3 days he has been with us he has been very gracious guest in our home. He has allowed our 2 cats to sniff him and even lick his ears. He likes walking with our two dogs, and has met many folks in the neighborhood, including three children that he enjoyed petting from for about 10 minutes. Count is a sweet, mild mannered boy. He walks well and crates well. He has stolen the hearts of our neighbors already, and will make a wonderful addition to a forever home.
He is a 75 pound black male with a July 12, 2008 birthday. Count is cat friendly, calm and outgoing.

Quik Flick is a 59 pound red fawn female that is calm and outgoing, but is NOT cat friendly. She has a June 23, 2008 birthday.
Kiowa Fire Hobbs - ADOPTED
 
Kiowa Fire Hobbs- This is a special boy! He is a kennel favorite down in FL. Hobbs is a 76 pound blue brindle male. He is calm and very friendly. However, he is NOT cat friendly. Hobbs has a July 6, 2009 birthday.

Six Pack- He is a 69 pound red fawn male that is cat friendly, calm and outgoing and likes kids. His birthday is April 15, 2009.
Algoa Danceaway- ADOPTED
 
Algoa Danceaway- He is a smaller brindle male that weighs 62 pounds. He is cat friendly, calm and outgoing with a September 11, 2009 birthday.
